Karlo Filipan is a PhD student at WAVES group in Ghent University, Belgium. Currently, he is also an early stage researcher in the EU FP7 project SONORUS – "Urban sound planner". He received his BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in 2010 and 2012, both from University of Zagreb, Croatia. Within his PhD topic he investigates the influence of human auditory attention in the analysis and design of urban soundscapes. His research interests include computational modeling, signal processing, machine listening, psychoacoustics and soundscape. Karlo Filipan also received a Master of Music in cello playing from University of Zagreb in 2011.
