Welcome

The BioEM2016 Local Organizing Committee, the Bioelectromagnetics Society (BEMS) and the European BioElectromagnetics Association (EBEA), welcome you to Ghent, Belgium, for the Annual Joint Meeting of our two societies from 5 to 10 June 2016. This time the BioEM conference will be co-organized with the European COST Action BM1309 (EMF-MED: European network for innovative uses of EMFs in biomedical applications).

As the premier international conference in the area of bioelectromagnetics, BioEM2016 is expected to stimulate further research in this field through the exchange of ideas and lively debate on state-of-the-art knowledge, as well as on knowledge gaps to be filled.

BioEM2016 will feature plenary talks by world-renowned scientists, a variety of sessions, workshops and tutorials focusing on the most pressing issues in the field of medical applications, health concerns, and regulations associated with electromagnetic fields. Student competitions are also a focus of the conference. Students from around the world will have the opportunity to present their work in an oral or poster session while developing their technical communication skills and networking with the bioelectromagnetics community.

The 2016 meeting will be held in “het Pand” in Ghent (Belgium), one hour west of Brussels and close to Antwerp and Bruges. The city of Ghent is a compact, authentic city where the past and present co-exist in perfect balance. Ghent is one of the most beautiful historic cities in Europe and was given several pretty names: historic heart of Flanders, a city of all times, medieval Manhattan, Europe’s best kept secret. Het Pand in Gent is a former Dominican cloister located in the beautiful medieval centre of Ghent and will offer delegates to BioEM2016 the opportunity to participate in the premier bioelectromagnetics meeting in an unforgettable environment.

It is of particular pleasure for the Local Organizing Committee and the presidents of BEMS and EBEA to welcome conference delegates from around the world to the wonderful city of Ghent and to BioEM2016.
